Be Glad...
This passage in Morning and Evening encouraged my soul today...
Rejoice believer, but take care that your gladness has its spring in the Lord. You have much cause for gladness in God, for you can sing with David, "God my exceeding joy". Be glad that the Lord reigns, that Jehovah is King! Rejoice that He sits on the throne and rules all things! Every attribute of God should become a fresh ray in the sunlight of our gladness.
The fact that he is WISE should make us glad, knowing as we do our own foolishness.
That He is MIGHTY should cause us who tremble in our weakness to rejoice.
That He is EVERLASTING should always be a theme of joy when we know we wither like grass.
That He is UNCHANGING should provide a perpetual song, for we change every hour.
That He is FULL OF GRACE, that He is overflowing with it, and that His grace and covenant He has given to us, that it is ours to cleanse us, our to keep us, ours to sanctify us, ours to perfect us, ours to bring us to glory- ALL this should serve to make us glad in Him.

How Things Change
Life is full and wonderful! This past weekend David and I drove up to Cleveland to visit my family! It was SO great to see all of them. Even in such a short time that I have been gone so much seems to be changing! For example: my sister Caitlin is now sitting in the front seat, my mom is making pan cakes for breakfast (this never happened when I was at home ;-) ), Natalie is super busy with school, Shannon and I had such a fun time shopping together on Saturday (she use to hate shopping), my Dad put a Dallas Cowboys sign on his truck (Ok not really...he just has it on his truck for a week because he lost a bet with David when the Browns played the Cowboys!) and my dog shadow has allergies! It is amazing how quickly things change! But on a serious note...it was so wonderful to be with my family and being apart makes me appreciate and cherish all the times I do get to spend with them! Thanks Family for a wonderful weekend!
Dinner and Chess!
Tonight I tried a new recipe and by God's grace it actually was really good! ;-) It was a skillet Pot Roast recipe! (which to me seemed a little odd in a skillet but it worked well).
Then during dinner David and I faced off in Chess...
My handsome husband and love of my life!
Well, it is official...I, Hannah Rose DeVries FINALLY beat David in Chess tonight! Yay! So now the tally is: David 17 and Hannah 1~ ( this picture has David's king in "Check Mate")
Here is the recipe! (it is really easy)

Here is the recipe! (it is really easy)
1 boneless beef chuck roast
1 tablespoon oil
1 lg. onion (chopped)
2 sliced carrots
2 celery ribs sliced
2 cans (141/2 oz) Italian stewed tomatoes
13/4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 med. potatoes, peeled and cut into eighths
In skillet over med-high heat, brown roast on all sides in oil. Remove roast and add: onions, carrots, celery, tomatoes, water salt, thyme, and pepper into the skillet. Bring to a boil. Return roast to skillet.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 2 hours. Add potatoes; cover and cook for 40 minutes longer or until meat and veggies are tender.
Lyme's Disease
Since last Friday I have felt sick. But it seemed like I only felt sick when I got tired and then my whole body would ache and would feel like I had a fever. But the weekend went on and really didn't think much of it. But on Tuesday I had to leave work early because I was feeling really, really fatigued and achy. (then I ran to the store and bought a thermometer...no one ever tells you... you should register for one of those:-) ). And lone behold I had a fever. This morning I woke up feeling even worse so I called the doctor and they were able to see me this morning.
After the doctor examined me, asked several questions and did a couple tests; he concluded that he thought I had Lyme's Disease! Apparently, it is really common in Maryland or I could have even gotten it while we were on our honeymoon in VA as well. The doctor thought it was best for me begin taking medication prior to the blood results; just to be on the safe side! I am so grateful to God that we were able to catch it early and there was a diagnose for why I was feeling so sick.
I am also so grateful to have a husband who has been caring for me so well these past few days while I have been laying in bed the whole time. As soon as he gets home from work he is immediately serving me! I am so provoked by the way David selflessly serves me! Thank you Love, for your care and selfless heart towards me! I love you so much!

Weekend Update
Wow, I can't believe it is September already and we have almost been married for a month! It is amazing how I was counting down the days till our wedding and each day seemed liked weeks until the wedding! But now being on the other side, the days are flying by like crazy!
This past weekend David and I went to see a play at the church on Acts, that was put on by the singles ministry! They did an outstanding job representing the gospel and glorifying God throughout the show. It was also, really entertaining and fun to watch. Saturday night, we met our Care Group for the first time and had a cookout with them. I am excited to see how God uses our group and how we will build together as couples. And then on Sunday we went over to David's parents for lunch/dinner and then Seth and Janet came down stairs to watch a movie and have smoothies and popcorn! The move was not all that great but the smoothies and popcorn hit the spot! And then yesterday, David had to work for most of the day so I did a little cleaning and went to the store to buy groceries. Then David came home and we spent the night just hanging out! (Oh how I love just spending time with him!!! Its the best!) We went for a walk, talked and played a game of Chess :-) I still have not beaten him yet, but I feel like I am getting closer because last night we had a "stale mate", which means we tied! I will keep you posted and let you know when I finally bet him! :-)
And today, David starts school! He is taking one class this semester but its a killer-Calculus! The class is 3 1/2 hours long on Tuesday nights! (I can't imagine) But I have total confidence he will do great! So that's pretty much the quick update on whats been going on in the life of David and Hannah over the past couple of day!
